Because the suppression of human rights is unacceptable at any level and by any government or other agency, it is important to bring these issues out in the open. Light has a purging effect on evil. The darkness needs to retreat.
There is much bootlicking homage paid to supposed 'champions' of human rights, albeit of yore. Such as the United States. The truth is that this is a laughable proposition. For two years in a row in the late 80s, buried in the New York Times were tiny single-paragraph mentions of Congress' approval of bills for the sale of instruments of torture (they specifically mentioned cattle prods as an example) to 'friendly countries.' I only recall Germany and Japan being mentioned in the roster.
The joke must end. Full accountability must be demanded of all functionaries and underlings who commit acts that trespass against the rights of others.
