The American Indian Movement Declares its Solidarity with Occupy Minnesota


In October 2011, a fruitful collaboration between Occupy Minnesota and the American Indian Movement began. Clyde Bellecourt, whose Ojibwe name is Nee-gon-we-way-we-dun, meaning "Thunder Before the Storm," spoke about the alliance on October 27, before leading a march to stop the tar sands Keystone XL Pipeline.
