Police try dirty tactics against Athenian protesters, Fail

They'll have to resort to Plan B. Using provocateurs to try to evict the people from Syntagma Square didn't work. One was reportedly found to have a police ID. And at least one Athens tv station showed footage of police arming so-called 'anarchists'*:

Reuters' headline Greek strikers hurl yoghurt and stones at Athens police is totally false and - given real events on the ground - suspect. The bulk of the protest was, and remains, peaceful.

Despite being attacked from all sides and the entire square filled with tear gas, people did not leave Syntagma Square and are still manning roadblocks around parliament. The People's Assembly will be held this evening as scheduled.

If you are in Athens, be there!

[* Police authorities issued a statement regarding this video, saying they had apprehended a foreigner who was in possession of bats and spears, and that the suspicious looking characters receiving the cache were undercover officers!]
