Cyberspies penetrate U.S. electrical grid

U.S. reports infrastructure espionage

Spies reportedly from China and Russia infiltrated the computer architecture controlling power grids and other infrastructure, including water and sewage, inside the U.S., installing software that could be used to trigger shutdowns, current and former national-security officials say. Efforts to scrub the grid of intrusive software have cost the U.S. $100 million in the past six months, the Pentagon reported Tuesday.
